Talk:Books
From PokerWiki
I just finished "The Making of a Poker Player" (Matros) and would be happy to write a review, but it'd probably be in a "General Poker" section (it's not necessarily an instructional book, although there's plenty of instruction in it; it's definitely not a "How to play this-variant" book). I'd personally put "general" above "specific" in any grouping, but the top-level grouping feels like it should be "getting started"-type books (WLLH, SSHE, etc).
What I'm saying is, anyone else want to propose a grouping structure for me to stick a review of Matros's book under? --Tapin 01:51, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I think "General poker" is fine to get started, and maybe to stick with if we can't think of anything more specific. ("General poker and psychology"? "Intangibles"? "Topics unrelated to playing the cards"? I'm just brainstorming here.) I'd much rather we erred on the site of organizing it "wrong" -- if there even is a "right" -- than erring on the side of waiting to add content until we get the perfect org. structure. JMO -- but I'm trying to emulate the mindset of Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Be bold in updating pages. In any case, I look forward to your review! - PhilipR 21:39, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Looking to turn this into a comprehensive book list
This seems to be mostly dormant. I'm going to follow the convention of having books listed in the already established sections, listed alphabetically by author, displayed by author, then title, then any notes

- I'm also going to add year of publication to the list, but I'm going to be pretty haphazard about it and will only add it for certain if I write a review of the book. Pmpoker 07:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)pmpoker
- Sounds good. I may add some reviews/titles myself if I find the time. Thanks! MarkT 07:36, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
