LAG is shorthand for a Loose Aggressive player. This sort of player bets into a lot more hands than the average skilled poker player (a skilled player will bet into 15-30% of hands, folding the rest), often with weaker hands than most would play. And when he does bet, he often raises aggressively, preflop or postflop, even with marginal hands, and with as little as a pair or a backdoor draw.
