The Grand Casino Resort Tunica occupies an unclear role in Harrah's strategy for the Tunica market. The poker room itself is pleasant and houses some 6-10 tables, but outside it is an auxiliary WSOP-branded tournament room that more than doubles the capacity. Apparently the parent company has designated the Grand as the center of its local tournament traffic, centered around the WSOP trademark, meanwhile designating the Horseshoe about a mile south as its premium destination for ring game traffic. Yet the 'Shoe offers regular tournaments, too, so who's to say? The net effect is that the Grand's room is pretty nice but pretty underutilized.
Games spread Edit
$4/8 LHE: Seems to be the most constant game.
$1/2 NLHE: $100 min., 300 max. -- not constant, but goes most weeknights as of February 2007. Minimum was recently raised from $50.
$2/5 NLHE: 200 min., no max. (?) --most common NLHE game. Starts and stops sporadically as players collect in the lower-stakes games. Appears to go most weeknights.
$2/10 7CS: no ante, $2 bring in. -- Appears very rare, meaning that the BBJ for seven-stud is essentially dead money until another game goes.
Poker rate Edit
$25 weekdays, $35 weekends. Five hours play required. About to go up to $35 and $45, respectively, sometime in spring 2007.
Reservations doesn't know about the poker rate except for major tournaments, so you will definitely want to call
Major ones twice a year
The Grand used to have the best daily tournaments in the Tunica market. They decided to not pay the architect of these tournaments $2100 he was due in salary. The room has gone downhill rapidly since then and employs mostly people who are unable to hold a job in another poker room.
