Contents

[edit] Hours, Tables, Location

Open 24/7. 12 tables. (They also have some No-Bust Blackjack, Pai Gow, and Three Card Poker.).

Located at 118 20th Street West, Rosamond, CA. Take the Avenue A exit off Highway 14. It's the only building you can see anywhere around you -- you're in the middle of nowhere. Diamond Jim's is just sitting in the middle of an empty lot.

[edit] Games

Limit Hold'em: 3/6 with full kill, 6/12, possibly others.

NLHE: 100NL with 2/3 blinds 4+1 drop. 200NL with 3/5 blinds 5+1 drop. 400 NL with 5/10 blinds

[edit] Game Review

3/6, 4/8 loose/tight aggressive, while I was there.

In the limit games you have to have the best hand to win. No one folds and it's almost impossible to bluff anyone.

[edit] Wait time

Not bad while I was there; wait of 10 minutes for a 3/6 seat at 11pm on a Sunday night.

[edit] Tournaments

Diamond Jim's does hold tournaments. They have a monthly one they advertise about in Card Player magazine, and at least one weekly one. I don't remember

Diamond Jim's Casino has tournaments Mon Tues and Wend. @ 6pm and a ladies tournament the last wend of each month. I know because I play in them. They also have a 10:15 am no limit tournament everyday. On Saturday and Sunday they start at 2pm so don't be late. Hope to see ya all there.

[edit] Jackpots

Bad Beat Jackpot available.

Pocket Aces Busted Bonus on Sundays

[edit] Atmosphere

Exterior of Diamond Jim's Casino in Rosamond, California, in the daytime

Funky "old time" casino atmopshere with modern updates. Nice and pleasant place to play. Their shtick is that "Diamond Jim" is this old-timey character with a bowler and a handlebar mustache. Their chips are among the more colorful and interesting I've seen.

Parking: Tons of parking, as you can imagine. You're in the middle of nowehere, for Pete's sake! The parking lot must have 200 spaces in it.

Neighborhood: You're in the middle of nowhere! You're probably pretty darn safe - where the heck could a thief hide or run to? If wide open spaces make you scared, though, this won't be the place for you.

[edit] Service and Comps

Didn't look at it too closely, but they definitely have normal casino food service. Someone at my table ordered chicken fingers and fries, and then shared them with the table.

Get a player's club card and earn 50 cents per hour for food or merchandise.

Also, if you're looking for a more formal dining experience, there is Zuma's, a gourmet Italian restaurant, right down the road. To get there, just take Avenue A to the east. At Sierra Hwy, turn left and continue until you see it in about a mile on the left hand side.

UPDATE> I believe its now $1.00 per hour at the 200 no limit game.

  • Nearest competitor is probably the Golden West Casino in Bakersfield.
